Offering new state-of-the-art technology in both the coverstock material and weight block shape design, the ROCKSTAR was developed to provide greater versatility on more oil conditions and lane surfaces than previous HP3 level balls since there have been plenty of advancements in the world of lane maintenance and lane surfaces in recent years.
The new NanoStar™ coverstock material is Roto Grip’s latest nanotechnology remix. This union of nano particles mixed with new chemistry provides similar traction in the midlane to that of our legendary MicroTrax™ material. However, the difference you will easily see is that the NanoStar™ material does not dig into the lane as early as MicroTrax™, it generates more responsiveness to friction down lane in terms of nanotechnology materials. In other words, breaking it down a little more for you… NanoStar is not as early as MicroTrax, and it’s not as clean and responsive as our eTrax™, eTrax PLUS™, or eTrax ULTRA™ materials. Therefore, it fills the gap between MicroTrax™ and eTrax™.
Showcased at the center of it all you will find our newly developed weight block shape that is destined for greatness, known as the ROCKER Core. Its authentic shape encapsulated in A.I. Core technology provides a more centralized rotation plane to better provide more continuation through the pin deck. As always, the Roto Grip team of R&D rockstars aim to develop weight block shapes that perform for bowlers of all skill levels not just the ones you see on TV. Technology is in our DNA! Storm starts from the innermost part, the weight block, and work their way out. In this case, it’s the inventive Supercoil weight block. The intent was to develop a super low RG shape with a greater undrilled intermediate differential. Traditionally, weight blocks with more of the mass placed around the equator drive the RG down and read the midlane better. The cutaway on the Y-axis helps to maintain dynamic integrity after drilling. When it’s time, the coverstock is poured. In just a few minutes as the liquid transitions to a solid, an extreme amount of heat (about 200 °F) needs to be released for this to happen.
The stage “exotherm” in the process is crucial to the chemistry of the coverstock and by controlling the peak temperature, heat rate, and cooldown speed Storm can manipulate the chemical porosity deep within that helps with oil absorption and displacement. This creates caverns of porosity and cliffs so deep which give this state-of-the-art shell the kind of cutting-edge traction that’ll leave you in awe. Enter: EXO Reactive coverstock.
A long time ago in a bowling center far, far away…the world of bowling entered a new level of ball reaction unrest. There were countless oil conditions which added to the complexity of the game. During this revolution very few centers of bowling chose to follow the path of slicker conditions, while the greatest number of centers chose the path of less volume and less length which created more overall friction.
During that time frame, Roto Grip elected to develop bowling orbs that cleared the front of the lane more easily to combat those higher friction conditions and higher friction lane surfaces to better serve the bowling republic.
More recently, however, the cries for help have echoed loudly from all around the bowling galaxy. Those cries for help all requesting greater traction with asymmetrical power to combat and fend off those heavier and longer oil conditions. So, they enlisted the help of our R&D Troops to lead this mission to restore the peace against the oil rebellion.
They wasted little time in tossing their research efforts into HYPERDRIVE to create what was needed for the masses in both the competitive and advanced levels of bowling games. In reviewing their current roster of asymmetric bowling orbs, the team of R&D troopers found that they were in fact in dire need of a more advanced propulsion block encapsulated in our MicroTrax coverstock traction system.
It was determined during this intergalactic review process that the best block to insert into their A.I. Core technology was in fact the RST (Roto Star Tour) block design. The combination of this singular density asymmetric shape encapsulated inside of an A.I. Core created an ideal amount of accelerated spin and torque thus leading to greater propulsion, thus resulting in the name HYPERDRIVE being given to this beautiful galactic bowling orb.
